New York: South Africa created history  by defeating Bangladesh by 4 runs in the 20th match of the T20 World Cup 2024. In the match played in New York, South Africa batted first and scored 113 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, the Bangladesh team could score 109 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. With this victory, Aiden Markram-led South Africa broke a big record of the Indian team.

South Africa has become the team to defend the lowest score in T20 World Cup history. South Africa stopped Bangladesh from scoring 114 runs. The Proteas team broke India’s record, who had defended 120 runs against Pakistan in New York a day earlier. The Indian team defeated arch-rival Pakistan by six runs.

Reportedly the Sri Lankan team is also included in defending the lowest score in T20 World Cup history. In 2014, Sri Lanka also defended a score of 120 runs against New Zealand. But now the record of defending the lowest score has gone to South Africa.

South Africa made another special record by winning this match. South Africa is the only team in T20 World Cup history to win matches by a margin of 1 run, 2 runs, 3 runs and four runs. Apart from the Proteas team, no other team has been able to do such a feat in the T20 World Cup.

South Africa made a unique record by defeating New Zealand by 1 run in 2009, New Zealand by 2 runs in 2014, England by 3 runs in 2014 and now Bangladesh by 4 runs.

South Africa has maintained its dominance by defeating Bangladesh in a low scoring match. South Africa has never lost to Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup so far. The Proteas’ record against Bangladesh in the T20 World Cup is one-sided at 9-0. Bangladesh had a golden chance to create history by registering a win, which it missed.
